Our Vision:

"To create a purposeful educational environment where children of all abilities can learn and thrive"

Design and Technology

Design and Technology provides a vehicle through which children learn practical solutions to real problems. It creates opportunities for children to use creative thinking and problem solving. Children develop technical understanding and skills through investigating their environment and learning different design methods. Children are also taught about growing, preparing and cooking healthy foods, which again enhances their life skills and knowledge of a healthier lifestyle.

At North View we incorporate Design and Technology where possible throughout the curriculum. We have a designated Food Technology room to support their importance of preparing our children with the practical life skills outlined in the National Curriculum.

We set termly whole school challenges based on areas of the DT Programme of Study. Through these children have the opportunity to develop the skills outlined in the National Curriculum in three main areas; focussed practical tasks, product evaluation and investigation and processes in design making. This also helps build confidence, develop teamwork and experience pride in their achievements. In addition, we have a DT focussed after school club which is accessed by all children on a rotational basis.
